The Devil's Eye

When I met the devil, it was on his level
He said he was a friend of mine
He took me to a houri - he said: "Don't you worry
she will make you feel just fine!"
He said, "Look me in the eye, you know I tell no lie"
And I looked but all I saw was my reflec-tion

"To live is not as necessary - as to navigate," he said
"You must leave this surface – for a better fate
Choose between this compass and these ivory dice,
but remember that the straits are dire from here – – – to paradise"

I laughed and took the Compass, said "I'm heading for the skies"
He said, "First then learn to navigate" and threw the magic dice
Incinerating flames blazing from his eyes
I fell into purgation through images of my lies

Then in my last ditch I fell upon this witch
She said that she would love me 'til I die
Said, "This is resurrection", as I gave her my affection
Then she did me like a spider does a fly
She said look me in the eye…

Then I saw her rolling eyes were aces of the dice
In her darkened room unfolding her disguise
I fell into a hole she said was Paradise
But deep inside were only snakes and carcasses and mice

When I looked back home, the Devil was alone
tangled with my woman in my bed
She said he did it well - from now I was expelled
Then I knew for sure that I was dead
She said, "Look me in the eye - you know I tell no lie"
And I looked but all I saw was his reflection

So I left my ashes - forever far behind
'Tween everything and nothing I could only find -
the Devil was a part of me - still I was divine
Growing through eternity creation was my mind

When I met the Devil it was on the level
I said, "Look me in the eye - you know I tell no lie"
And he looked but all he saw was his reflection
reflection
we looked, but all we saw was our reflections

The Owl

Starlight seeking havens
through endless space for peace
Silhouettes are sharpened on the edges of belief
Thunderstorms are crying as they vanish in the rain
Growing hearts are seeking
through the wilderness in pain
light passes slowly
from your eyes into your brain

Moving forces seize you
when you're standing in their way
follow the direction
listen to what they say
then moving all together
you'll want to be alone
Flying faster, look back – you have grown
Light passes quickly
when your mind becomes your own

Promises growing
like mountains from the earth
Echoing a laughter of the aum that gave you birth
and when forests are no longer just silhouettes of trees
flying through your lifetime
feel the summer breeze
Then morning comes to meet you
as you shut your eyes in peace

Farvel Axel.

Din venn Robert
